Qualifying Course
Training in Group Analysis is provided by the Institute of Group Analysis (London) and the Irish Institute of Group Analysis (IIGA), and is located in the School of Psychotherapy, St. Vincent's University Hospital. It takes place over eight block weekends each year. The IIGA is incrementally taking over the training, and is currently negotiating a joint IIGA/University qualification. The IIGA is responsible for and accredits the Introductory and Advanced courses, and is preparing to accredit the Qualifying course.
There are four stages in the training:
  • Introductory (one year).
  • Advanced (two years minimum).
  • Diploma (three years minimum).
  • On completion of the Diploma course, trainees are required to write a qualifying clinical paper (one year).
